“… PAVING THE WAY IN FAITH”
As we celebrate Christ’s gift of salvation, our grateful worship of God guides us to ensure the vision of our church and its future. As the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church congregation continues to trust, to believe and to carry out this mission, our Session has established a permanent Endowment Program to support this work during the course of our lifetime and beyond.
Our efforts, “…Paving the way in faith “ will be an ongoing process as you individually consider and pray about remembering PIPC with a planned or legacy gift. We have been blessed by those who came before us at PIPC, so it is that we pass along blessings on to those who come after us.
Most churches seem strangely silent when it comes to asking church members to consider a “Planned Gift”. It is our prayer that Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church will build on the strong foundation of the past and its giving and begin to think about this form of stewardship in a new way. Two of life’s certainties, death and taxes, with all their important aspects seem to get little planning time. A great majority of people die without a will despite the fact that most people have some assets, as well as loved ones about whom they are concerned. We should provide for the well-being of loved ones and if able, leave bequests for religious and charitable uses.
Both a “living” or legacy gift is designed to provide future support for Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. A “living” gift can be made during one’s lifetime to one of our Endowment Funds (General, Building Preservation, or Programs and Missions). A legacy gift is a donation made after one’s death, generally through a direct bequest in a will or estate documents. Both types of gifts enable your generosity to make an impact on the mission, ministries and future needs of the church.
Like your annual estimate of giving stewardship pledge to the church, making a living or legacy gift to PIPC is a matter of the heart. We make such a gift following the admonition of the Apostle Paul: “Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
It is never too early to plan:
The PIPC Endowment Program seeks to attract a full range of giving options; cash, securities, retirement accounts, real estate, tangible assets, life insurance, and life income plans. The income distributions from the Endowment Program will be used to expand and enrich the mission and ministry of this church, rather than to become a stream of support for operations.
Designated gifts, upon receipt, will be maintained and administered by the Endowment Committee through three separate choices: General Endowment, Building Preservation, and Program & Mission funds.
Every other month, we will highlight new couples who are a part of the Endowment Program.
